Meghan Markle’s father says the relationship has brought him peace after difficult health struggles.
Thomas Markle, the father of Meghan Markle, has revealed that he has found love again while recovering from serious health complications.
The former Hollywood lighting director shared that he is now romantically involved with Rio Canedo, 46, a nurse who helped care for him after he underwent a life-threatening leg amputation.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Markle said the relationship has brought him comfort and happiness during a challenging period of his life. He acknowledged that critics may have opinions but insisted he is grateful to have found companionship after what he described as years of loneliness.
According to Markle, Rio has helped bring “peace and happiness” back into his life after a long stretch where he felt “sad and neglected”.
In a rare public update, the 81-year-old also shared details about his recovery while attending a Valentine’s Day gathering at the rehabilitation centre in the Philippines where he is currently staying. He reportedly joined staff members for a small lunch event organised by the facility.
Markle also offered a brief update on his health, saying he is receiving excellent care and remains thankful to the medical team assisting him.
“I’m being very well taken care of, and I am grateful for all the wonderful care I am getting,” he told The Mail on Sunday, adding that he is slowly adjusting to life after the surgery while continuing with physiotherapy.
While he said he is feeling happier and making steady progress, Markle admitted there is still a long road ahead as he adapts to the changes in his life. He also reiterated his hope of one day reconciling with Meghan Markle and meeting his grandchildren.
