Life at Marsh Farm described as isolated and far removed from his former royal routine
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor is said to be living a much quieter and more restricted life after stepping away from Royal Lodge, with reports suggesting his current routine bears little resemblance to his former royal lifestyle.
According to royal author Ian Lloyd, Andrew’s situation has effectively placed him in what he described as a form of “internal exile.” Speaking to The i, Lloyd suggested that although the residence at Marsh Farm is comfortable, Andrew appears to be living a largely confined and low-profile life.
“In my opinion, Marsh Farm is the most luxurious open prison in the country because he is more or less confined there,” Lloyd said. “He’s sort of, in a sense, in internal exile.”
He added that Andrew rarely ventures out and now leads a far quieter routine than before. Reports claim he spends much of his time indoors, watching television and playing video games.
“You almost couldn’t have a bigger contrast of before and after,” Lloyd noted, referring to the dramatic change from Andrew’s once high-profile royal life.
Meanwhile, the former royal residence at Royal Lodge is reportedly far quieter than it used to be. According to a local observer who spoke to The Sun, the property has lost much of the activity it once had.
“Royal Lodge was a hive of activity, even when Andrew was trying to lie low during the Epstein scandal, but now it’s just a ghost town,” the observer claimed.
Despite the circumstances, family ties appear to remain intact. Over the Easter period, his younger brother Edward and Sophie visited him.
A source said the couple felt sympathy for Andrew and were concerned about his wellbeing following his dramatic fall from public life.
“It’s true to say they both feel sorry for Andrew and how far he has fallen and they are worried about his fragile state of mind,” the source reportedly shared, while also noting that their concern does not excuse his past behaviour.
