King Charles Shows ‘Tortoise Effect’ During Donald Trump Meeting, Expert Claims

Body language expert suggests the monarch appeared distracted during his latest US visit

King Charles III has reportedly appeared uneasy during his latest trip to the United States, where he is travelling with Queen Camilla.

The monarch drew attention during a recent meeting with Donald Trump, following recent turmoil at the White House.

Body language expert Bruce Durham told reports that Charles appeared less focused than usual during the engagement.

He claimed the King displayed what he described as the “tortoise effect” after arriving, noting that Charles briefly lowered his head as Camilla moved forward to greet Trump.

According to Durham, the gesture can sometimes suggest feelings of uncertainty, doubt or discomfort.

He also noted that Charles is highly experienced in formal public events and royal protocol, making the moment stand out more than it otherwise might.

The King has attended thousands of official engagements over the years, and any small change in behaviour is often closely analysed during major international visits.
