Duchess takes a more selective approach with latest Mother's Day launch
Meghan Markle appears to be taking a more limited approach to promotional gifting as she introduces a new Mother's Day collection for her lifestyle brand, As Ever.
Unlike previous launches, where branded products were reportedly sent to a wide range of Hollywood figures, this time the Duchess of Sussex has chosen only a small group of recipients for the exclusive gift boxes.
Those said to have received the packages include close friends Kelly McKee Zajfen and Heather Dorak, along with Today Show editor Adrianna Barrionuevo Brach. Social media personalities including Kristina Zias and Carly were also among the selected names.
The reported $156 gift boxes included chocolates from Los Angeles-based brand Compartés, along with scented candles. Meghan also added a personal element to the candles, with fragrances said to be inspired by her children.
A handwritten message included in the package explained the meaning behind the scents. Meghan wrote that she spent the past year developing the fragrances so each note would bring back a special memory of motherhood. She added that lighting the candle allows her to close her eyes and return to those moments.
She also thanked recipients for welcoming the brand into their homes and allowing it to become part of their memories.
The gifting campaign comes shortly after Meghan Markle and Harry returned from their Australia visit, where their appearance drew criticism over the cost of the event.
