Heated clash erupts on air as historian challenges his comments about the Sussex titles
Piers Morgan once again took aim at Meghan Markle during a tense exchange on his show Uncensored, where a discussion about royal titles quickly escalated into a heated debate.
Morgan, who has long been outspoken in his criticism of Meghan Markle, clashed with historian Tessa Dunlop after she argued that stripping the Sussexes of their titles would be wrong.
During the discussion, Dunlop pointed out that Harry cannot simply be “un-royalled,” pushing back against suggestions that the couple should lose their honours.
Morgan fired back by bringing up Prince Andrew’s fall from grace, arguing that the royal family had already shown it can take action when a member damages the institution.
The comparison didn’t sit well with Dunlop. She criticised the host for placing Harry in the same category as Andrew, calling the remark uncomfortable and unfair. She insisted the two situations were not comparable and suggested the discussion had crossed a line.
Morgan responded by clarifying that he has always believed Andrew’s scandals are far more serious than anything involving Harry and Meghan Markle. He noted that Andrew’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein and the controversy surrounding his responses had caused significant harm.
Still, Morgan maintained that the broader principle remains the same. In his view, any royal whose actions damage the reputation of the monarchy should face consequences, including the possible loss of titles.
Dunlop disagreed, arguing that public opinion polls on the matter are often shaped by the loudest voices rather than balanced sentiment. She instead praised the Sussexes for stepping away from royal duties, suggesting the decision allowed them to grow and define their own path.
She also pointed out that Meghan Markle has shown little interest in leaning on her royal title, noting that she has even introduced herself simply as “Meg.”
The comment appeared to push the conversation to its breaking point. Morgan responded sharply, rejecting the idea and making it clear he remains firmly opposed to the Sussexes continuing to use their royal titles.
The fiery exchange quickly became one of the most talked-about moments from the episode, highlighting once again how discussions around Harry and Meghan Markle continue to divide commentators and royal watchers alike.
