Prince Harry is said to hope the King will invite the family to spend time together at Sandringham
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s representatives are reportedly in touch with Buckingham Palace as the couple consider rebuilding ties with King Charles and senior members of the royal family.
According to royal expert Richard Palmer, there is still tension between the Sussexes and the royal household. Despite this, communication between the two sides is said to be ongoing.
Palmer noted that while a private invitation from the King is not impossible, certain complications could arise depending on the timing of the couple’s plans.
One possible issue, he suggested, could be if Meghan Markle decides to launch her lifestyle brand, As Ever, in the United Kingdom during a visit. In that case, the monarch would likely want to avoid appearing connected to or supportive of a commercial project.
The expert explained that the palace would be cautious about any situation that might make the King appear as though he is endorsing a business venture.
However, Palmer also pointed to past moments that showed the King’s affection for his grandchildren. During the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, a senior source close to the King reportedly described how meaningful it was for him to spend time with Harry’s children.
The expert believes the monarch genuinely regrets missing out on more moments with them.
Harry is also said to be hopeful that King Charles might invite him, Meghan Markle, and their children Archie and Lilibet to spend time with the family at Sandringham this summer.
A friend of the Duke shared that if the King were to extend such an invitation, Harry would be happy to accept the chance to reconnect and spend time with his family.
