Catherine’s recent trip to Italy has reportedly stirred fresh tensions with Meghan Markle, with insiders claiming the Duchess of Sussex believes the timing of the visit was far from accidental.
According to reports, Meghan feels the Princess of Wales’ return to the spotlight came immediately after she and Harry received positive attention following their overseas visit to Australia.
Sources told Closer that royal fans have warmly welcomed Catherine’s increasing public appearances this year, with her Italy trip being viewed as a sign that the future queen is fully stepping back into royal duties.
However, insiders claim Meghan Markle sees the situation very differently.
“From Meghan’s perspective, the timing couldn’t be more obvious,” one source alleged. “She and Harry have just come back from this great overseas trip and they’re finally getting some positive press, and suddenly Catherine’s everywhere again.”
The insider went on to claim that Meghan does not believe it is a coincidence that Catherine scheduled a high-profile overseas appearance so soon after the Sussexes’ successful tour.
“She feels like right after she and Harry have a successful trip overseas, Catherine is taking one of her own,” the source added.
According to the report, Meghan believes the wider royal establishment works to redirect public attention whenever she and Harry begin gaining momentum in the media.
Insiders further alleged that Meghan views Catherine’s latest public appearances and projects as part of a broader effort to place the spotlight back on the monarchy’s most popular figures.
“Meghan says this whole rollout of appearances and projects by Catherine is a calculated move to shift the focus back onto her and the monarchy,” the source claimed.
The insider also suggested that Meghan has long believed there was competitiveness in their relationship from the beginning.
“Meghan has always said that Catherine was unnecessarily competitive with her from the first time they met,” the source alleged, adding, “as far as she’s concerned, this is more of the same.”
