Catherine, Princess of Wales is reportedly hoping the Royal Family adopts a softer approach towards Sarah Ferguson amid ongoing tensions surrounding the Duke and Duchess of York.
According to new claims, Catherine believes the monarchy should be less harsh in the way it handles Fergie’s position within the family, even while maintaining a necessary distance publicly.
A source quoted by Express claimed the Princess of Wales understands why the institution feels it must separate itself from controversy, but does not agree with the manner in which Sarah Ferguson has allegedly been treated.
The insider said Catherine feels Fergie deserves “mercy” and believes family members should still listen to her and allow her the opportunity to explain herself.
The report also suggested that Prince Andrew has escaped the full consequences of his controversies more easily than his former wife, despite continued scrutiny surrounding his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
Although Sarah Ferguson and Andrew divorced years ago, the pair have remained close and still share connections through the Royal Family. Fergie has also continued to appear publicly at certain royal events in recent years.
