Royal couple thank Americans as landmark trip concludes
King Charles and Queen Camilla have wrapped up their visit to the United States with a heartfelt farewell, expressing gratitude for the warm reception they received throughout their trip.
In a message shared on the royal family’s official social media, the couple reflected on their first US visit since the King’s accession, calling it a meaningful and memorable experience. The post, accompanied by an image of the pair near the Statue of Liberty, thanked Americans for their kindness and hospitality.
“Farewell and thank you for the warmth of your welcome and the kind support you gave us throughout our first visit to the US as King and Queen, in this, your special anniversary year,” the message read.
They added a personal note, saying they were leaving with lasting memories. “We leave a piece of our heart behind and take a little of yours back home with us. Until the next time… God bless America.”
The message was signed “Charles R. & Camilla R.”
During the visit, the King and Queen travelled to Washington, D.C., and New York City, attending a series of high-profile engagements. Among the key moments was a historic address to Congress marking 250 years of American independence.
Their itinerary also included a meeting at the White House with Donald Trump and Melania Trump, along with a state banquet and discussions with prominent business leaders.
The royal couple also paid their respects at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, honouring the lives lost in the 9/11 attacks.
Speaking during the visit, Donald Trump praised King Charles, describing him as “a great king” and commending both him and the Queen for their presence and character.
