King Charles III spent what Buckingham Palace described as a “great morning” with British actor Idris Elba while celebrating 50 years of the National Youth Music Theatre.
The King visited the charity on Thursday, taking part in activities alongside students involved in the programme.
According to Buckingham Palace, Charles joined young performers and Elba during improvisation workshops before watching a special performance presented by students from the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT).
The organisation is known for providing musical theatre opportunities to young people from a wide range of backgrounds and has helped launch the careers of many successful performers over the years.
The palace also highlighted Elba’s personal connection to the programme, noting that the actor attended the National Youth Music Theatre at the age of 18 with support from The King's Trust.
Elba, widely recognised for his roles in Luther and The Wire, was honoured with a knighthood last year for his anti-knife crime campaigning and work supporting young people.
