Questions grow as private talks with Donald Trump remain undisclosed
King Charles III came under renewed scrutiny during his recent US trip, as questions around the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and its connection to Prince Andrew continued to follow him.
The issue lingered in the background of the monarch’s four-day visit, drawing significant media attention and public interest. Speculation had been building ahead of his meeting with Donald Trump, with some expecting the sensitive topic to be raised privately.
While the two leaders spent time discussing broader matters of shared interest, neither side confirmed whether the Epstein case or its implications were addressed. Still, insiders suggested it would have been difficult to avoid entirely, given the scale of the controversy and ongoing calls for transparency.
According to one source, even if the matter was not part of the formal agenda, the meeting provided an opportunity for discussion behind closed doors.
Outside official engagements, the issue was far more visible. Survivors, families, and advocacy groups gathered in Washington to demand accountability, focusing on the release of Epstein-related files and further investigations into those linked to his network.
During the visit, Melania Trump joined Trump in welcoming Charles and Queen Camilla at the White House. However, not far away, protesters assembled to make their voices heard.
Among them were relatives of Virginia Giuffre, who had previously accused Andrew of misconduct. Her family, along with supporters, marked the anniversary of her death with a vigil and renewed calls for justice.
Andrew has consistently denied all allegations and maintained that he had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities.
Speaking during the demonstrations, Giuffre’s brother criticised both British and American leadership, arguing that survivors are still struggling to be heard while powerful figures remain distant and unaccountable.
Advocacy groups echoed that sentiment. Campaigners stressed that the King’s visit represented a chance to acknowledge survivors publicly, while also urging US authorities to pursue stronger action against those connected to Epstein’s crimes.
Despite the pressure, the royal visit largely stayed focused on diplomacy and state matters. Even so, the continuing fallout from the Epstein scandal remains a persistent shadow, reaching into politics, royalty, and public life on both sides of the Atlantic.
