The Duchess of Sussex is expected to join Harry in Birmingham for Invictus Games events this July
A royal commentator has suggested that Meghan Markle may have sent a subtle message to King Charles through a recent social media post, ahead of her expected return to the UK this summer.
Meghan is reportedly set to accompany Harry to Birmingham in July for Invictus Games celebrations marking one year until the next tournament. The events are expected to take place around July 10.
The speculation follows the couple's seventh wedding anniversary on May 19. To mark the occasion, Meghan shared a collection of personal photographs on Instagram, including several images from their wedding at Windsor Castle.
Among the pictures were intimate moments from the ceremony, including a candid shot of the newlyweds together after exchanging vows and a behind-the-scenes image from their official wedding portrait session. One of the photographs also featured King Charles.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward believes the inclusion of the monarch was intentional. Speaking to The Mirror, she suggested that Meghan's post carried a deeper meaning.
"Meghan doesn't do anything without purpose, so she's sending a message, isn't she?" Seward said.
According to the royal commentator, the message could be interpreted as a reminder that Harry and Meghan still consider themselves part of the Royal Family.
"The message is, 'We're still very much part of your family,'" she explained.
Seward also argued that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may not have anticipated the extent of the distance that would develop between them and the Royal Family following their departure from royal duties, Harry's memoir, and their high-profile interview with Oprah Winfrey.
"They didn't realise just how alienated they were going to become," she added.
