Royal commentator argues Harry and Meghan could have stepped into a larger role had they remained patient
A royal commentator has claimed that Prince Harry should focus on rebuilding trust with the Royal Family, arguing that a different approach could have led to a very different outcome for both him and Meghan Markle.
Speaking on Royals Uncensored, commentator Maureen Callahan shared her views on Harry's current situation, suggesting that he needs to take responsibility for past actions and work to repair damaged relationships.
"I think what Harry should do is something I don't know if he is any longer capable of doing," Callahan said. "He should metaphorically fall on his sword, ask for forgiveness, and do the hard, humble work needed to earn back a modicum of trust."
Callahan went on to suggest that patience could have worked in the Sussexes' favour, particularly during a period when Prince William and Catherine faced significant personal challenges.
Reflecting on Catherine's return to public duties and her recent solo trip to Italy, Callahan argued that Harry and Meghan may have missed an opportunity to play a more prominent role within the Royal Family.
"The irony of ironies, it's almost Shakespearean," she said. "If Meghan and Harry had just bided their time, done their work and kept their heads down, that difficult year for William and Catherine could have been their chance to step forward and show what they could do."
According to the commentator, the couple could have found themselves in a stronger position had they remained within the royal fold and waited for circumstances to evolve naturally.
Summing up her assessment, Callahan delivered a blunt verdict on what she sees as the Sussexes' biggest mistake.
"They blew it," she said.
