Prince Harry Comment Marked the Moment Catherine Finally Gave Up on Reconciliation

After years of trying to keep the peace, Catherine reportedly decided she could no longer bridge the growing divide within the Royal Family.

Catherine has long been viewed as one of the Royal Family’s key peacemakers, often working behind the scenes to ease tensions between King Charles, Prince William, and Harry. Even after the Duke of Sussex released his controversial memoir Spare in 2023, she reportedly remained hopeful that relationships could eventually be repaired.

However, royal author Christopher Andersen claims there was one particular moment that changed everything.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, Andersen said Catherine continued making efforts long after many others had given up.

“She would not give up,” he explained. “Even after Harry threw William under the bus in his memoir Spare, she was still willing to keep trying. But eventually there was a final break.”

According to Andersen, that turning point came shortly after King Charles revealed his cancer diagnosis.

He pointed to Harry’s public remarks expressing a desire to reconcile with his family, particularly his comment that nobody knows how much time his father may have left.

“The final straw came shortly after the king was diagnosed with cancer,” Andersen said. “Harry essentially said he wanted to mend fences because we don't know how long his father has to live.”

The royal author argued that such remarks may have been upsetting for family members already dealing with the emotional reality of the King's health battle.

He suggested the comments were also difficult for Catherine to hear and sparked further public speculation about the seriousness of Charles’ condition.

According to Andersen, that was the moment Catherine decided to stop trying to act as a mediator.

“She pretty much felt that was it,” he said. “She wasn't going to keep trying anymore.”

As a result, Andersen believes the possibility of a reconciliation between Harry and the rest of the family appears increasingly remote.

“I don't think we're ever going to see them make amends,” he added. “At least not anytime soon.”

Harry's remarks were made during a BBC interview in May 2025, when he said: “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”

While hopes of healing the family rift have surfaced repeatedly over the years, Andersen's comments suggest that, from Catherine's perspective, the chances of rebuilding those relationships may now be more distant than ever.
