The decision comes after concerns that support for veterans' sporting and rehabilitation programmes had been cut from the federal budget.
Harry has received positive news after Invictus Games Foundation and its Australian partner celebrated the restoration of government funding for veteran support programmes.
Invictus Australia announced that the Australian Federal Government has reinstated funding for its sporting and wellbeing initiatives for veterans and their families over the next three years.
The organisation said the renewed support recognises the importance of its work in promoting recovery, connection and mental wellbeing among former service personnel and their loved ones. It also noted that its programmes align with recommendations from the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.
Sharing the update on social media, Invictus Australia welcomed the government's decision.
“We welcome the Government’s decision to reinstate our funding to deliver sporting programs for veterans and their families,” the charity said.
“This outcome reflects a commitment to the importance of connection, recovery and wellbeing for those who have served.”
The announcement was also praised by Rob Owen, chief executive of the Invictus Games Foundation.
“Fantastic news on the decision to renew federal funding for Invictus Australia given the proven impact that sport and community have on veteran recovery, rehabilitation and suicide prevention,” Owen said.
He added: “We are delighted to see continued government support in Australia for this work.”
The funding restoration follows earlier reports suggesting that financial support for Invictus Australia’s national sport and rehabilitation programmes had been removed from the federal budget, raising concerns about the future of several initiatives.
Founded by Harry in 2014, the Invictus Games and its associated programmes continue to focus on supporting the recovery and wellbeing of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans around the world.
