New claims surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle suggest the couple may be facing growing differences over money, lifestyle choices and their future plans in California.
Rumours about tension between the Sussexes have circulated for months, but a recent report claims the biggest issue could stem from Harry’s royal upbringing. According to the report, the Duke of Sussex allegedly never had to think about everyday expenses while growing up inside the royal system, something that is now said to be causing friction as the couple manage their finances independently.
The report, published by Women & Home magazine, claimed Meghan has become increasingly frustrated because she and Harry now appear to want “different things” from life. The couple’s business ventures and media projects have reportedly not delivered the success they initially expected, adding further pressure behind the scenes.
Another claim suggested Harry is interested in leaving Montecito altogether and would prefer a quieter life somewhere more remote, with Montana reportedly mentioned as a possible destination. Meghan, meanwhile, is said to be carefully monitoring spending while Harry allegedly lacks a strong understanding of day-to-day financial realities because of the privileged environment he grew up in.
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the Sussexes have relied on their own commercial deals and media partnerships for income. Their public connections with the Royal Family have also remained limited over the years.
Meghan Markle accompanied Prince Harry to the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022 and later returned for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Harry also attended the coronation of King Charles III in 2023.
Their children later officially received the titles of Prince and Princess, something Harry previously described as their “birthright”. Reports also claimed Harry and his father held a private meeting at Windsor Castle after years of distance between them.
In recent months, the Sussexes have noticeably reduced their criticism of the Royal Family in public interviews. Some royal commentators now believe the couple may be attempting to repair relations with the monarchy, although reports continue to suggest Prince William remains unhappy about the situation.
