A family insider has shared fresh insight into the lasting impact of the alleged private jet altercation involving Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, nearly ten years after the incident that ultimately led to the end of their marriage.
The alleged confrontation reportedly took place aboard a private flight from France to Los Angeles in September 2016. Just days later, Jolie filed for divorce, bringing an end to one of Hollywood's most high-profile relationships.
In the years that followed, the former couple became involved in lengthy legal battles over child custody and their shared winery. According to previously reported and partially redacted FBI documents, Pitt was accused of physically confronting Jolie during the flight while their children were present.
The documents alleged that Pitt grabbed Jolie by the head, shook her and pushed her against a bathroom wall. One of the children reportedly stepped in during the dispute, prompting further tension. Jolie later claimed she tried to intervene to stop the situation from escalating, resulting in injuries to her back and elbow.
Additional allegations in the report claimed that Pitt became physical with two of the children and poured beer and red wine during the incident. The reported events allegedly occurred after Pitt had been drinking.
Now, nearly a decade later, a family insider has told Page Six that the effects of that day continue to be felt by the family.
"The children, who are now adults who make their own decisions, were not only affected by what happened on that plane 10 years ago, but what has happened since — [Pitt] continuing to cover up and minimize his own behavior," the source said.
The insider added that the situation has significantly affected Pitt's relationship with his children and questioned why more attention has not been given to their experiences.
However, the source also pointed to a judge's custody ruling, noting that a lengthy 168-page decision granted both parents equal custody based on testimony from people close to the family, including therapists, household staff and the children themselves.
According to the insider, the ruling represented a fair outcome and allowed both parents to remain actively involved in raising their children.
Despite the legal battles largely being settled, the fallout from the 2016 incident continues to draw attention, with both Jolie and Pitt's family dynamics remaining a topic of public interest years later.
