Prince Harry and Peter Phillips once shared a strong bond as cousins, long before the Duke of Sussex stepped back from royal life and moved abroad.
Although Harry was reportedly not among the guests as Peter Phillips married Harriet Sperling in England, royal commentators have reflected on the close relationship the cousins enjoyed over the years.
Royal expert Hugo Vickers told Mail Online that Peter played an important role in supporting Harry and his brother following the tragic death of their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
"Peter Phillips was incredibly good with the boys when Diana died, so I think it will be very good for them," Vickers said. He added that family members often find it easier to maintain positive relationships behind closed doors when they behave respectfully in public.
Vickers also noted that the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip spent much of their lives helping to bring family members together, suggesting they would have welcomed any efforts to maintain harmony within the family.
Meanwhile, royal expert Jennie Bond shared her thoughts on why Harry may not have been invited to the wedding. Speaking to the Mirror, she explained that creating a guest list can be challenging, particularly when high-profile family members are involved.
Bond suggested that Harry's presence, whether accompanied by Meghan Markle or not, would likely have drawn significant media attention away from the bride and groom on their special day.
As a result, she believes Peter and Harriet made a practical decision by keeping the guest list focused on the couple, reportedly leaving out the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as well as Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
