Princess Kate has shared a touching reflection on the importance of childhood, describing children as a constant source of hope and inspiration.
The Princess of Wales opened up about early childhood development in a recent essay published by the Centre for Early Childhood, just weeks before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly expected to bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to the UK.
In her message, Kate highlighted the unique qualities children possess and why their outlook on life continues to inspire her.
"Children always give me hope," she wrote. "Their natural openness, their curiosity about the simplest of things, and their ability to wonder, dream and play remind me of the very best qualities of humanity."
The Centre for Early Childhood also shared a photo of the Princess spending time with children on Instagram, accompanied by excerpts from her essay.
Kate stressed the importance of protecting the joy and spirit of childhood while supporting healthy development, calling those early years crucial to a person's overall wellbeing.
"It is vital to preserve the spirit of childhood alongside healthy development," she explained. "Childhood is foundational in developing a healthy balance between mind, body and spirit."
The future Queen went on to describe how children experience the world differently from adults, embracing emotions, joy and connection in a pure and authentic way.
"Children are not simply learners of information," she said. "They don't analyse joy but live it; they don't intellectualise connection, but embody it. They experience the world through feeling, through love."
Kate also emphasized the role of relationships, play and exploration in helping children grow emotionally and socially. According to the Princess, these everyday experiences help young people develop confidence, understanding and a strong sense of belonging.
"This happens everywhere, all the time: through movement and play, curiosity and interaction," she wrote. "When children are encouraged to explore, to question, and to express themselves freely, they develop not only understanding, but a sense of self and belonging."
The comments reflect one of Kate's longstanding passions, with early childhood development remaining a central focus of her work. Her latest message serves as another reminder of the lasting impact that nurturing and supportive environments can have on children's futures.
The essay comes amid reports that Archie and Lilibet could accompany Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on a visit to Britain next month, potentially marking their first trip to the UK in several years.
