How a chance meeting in 2009 led to romance, creative collaborations, and a shared publishing venture
Keanu Reeves and his longtime partner Alexandra Grant appeared happier than ever as they attended the MOCA Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday evening.
The couple, who have been together for eight years, were spotted holding hands and sharing light-hearted moments as they arrived at The Geffen Contemporary for one of the city's most celebrated art events. Their relaxed chemistry and affectionate interactions drew attention on the black carpet.
Grant recently opened up about what makes their relationship work, pointing to a combination of mutual admiration and a sense of fun.
“I’d say the key to it is the mutual respect and also just like, come on, it’s play, right?” she told People.
The artist explained that both she and Reeves understand the demands of a creative life. While he immerses himself in filmmaking, she dedicates herself fully to her work as a visual artist.
“When I’m in painter mode, I am in it. I’m fully in it,” Grant said, describing the passion they both bring to their respective careers.
Their story began in 2009 when they met at a dinner party. Over the years, their friendship evolved through several creative collaborations, including the poetry books Ode to Happiness in 2011 and Shadows in 2016.
The pair later expanded their partnership by launching the publishing imprint X Artists’ Books in 2017. Their professional relationship eventually blossomed into a romance, and they officially began dating the following year.
Today, Reeves and Grant continue to balance their personal and professional lives, with creativity, respect, and a shared sense of play remaining at the heart of their relationship.
