Sir Gareth Southgate joins youth leaders as discussions focus on opportunities and support for the next generation
King Charles welcomed a group of young people to Buckingham Palace on Monday for a summit focused on the challenges and opportunities facing today's youth.
Also attending the event were The King’s Trust Goodwill Ambassador, Sir Gareth Southgate, along with representatives from across the youth sector.
According to a statement released after the gathering, the summit gave leaders from different areas of society the chance to hear directly from young people about the impact that support services can have on those dealing with unemployment, loneliness, personal difficulties, or insecure work.
The statement also revealed that The King’s Trust and Sir Gareth Southgate are preparing to launch a nationwide initiative aimed at helping young people gain greater access to courses, mentoring, and resources. The programme is designed to build confidence and equip participants with skills that can benefit them throughout their lives.
Southgate is widely known for his football career as both a player and manager. He represented England as a defender and midfielder before going on to lead the national team from 2016 until 2024.
