Demonstrators gathered outside Buckingham Palace as royals celebrated the King's official birthday
Members of the Royal Family faced protests outside Buckingham Palace on Saturday as they gathered for Trooping the Colour, the annual ceremony marking King Charles III's official birthday.
The demonstration was organised by the anti-monarchy campaign group Republic, which shared photos and videos from the event on social media while reiterating its call for the abolition of the monarchy.
In a statement posted online, the group claimed that protesters had made their presence felt during the ceremony despite what it described as efforts by police to restrict the demonstration.
"Despite the Met trying to stop us, the royals have been confronted by protesters at the Trooping the Colour ceremony, demanding they answer questions about the cover-up of the Andrew scandal," Republic said.

The protest drew attention to ongoing scrutiny surrounding Prince Andrew, who stepped back from public royal duties following controversy linked to his association with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Meanwhile, Trooping the Colour proceeded as planned, with King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Catherine and other senior royals taking part in the traditional celebrations, which included a military parade and a fly-past over Buckingham Palace.
The event remains one of the most prominent occasions in the royal calendar, attracting large crowds and international attention each year.
