Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing extensive security arrangements ahead of a planned family visit to the UK next month.
According to recent reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to travel to Britain with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as part of events marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. If the visit goes ahead, it would be the children's first trip to the UK since 2022.
Although King Charles has reportedly offered the family accommodation at a royal residence, Prince Harry is said to be taking additional precautions when it comes to security.
According to Page Six, Harry plans to rely on his own private security team during the visit. A source told the publication that the family will not travel by private jet but will instead be accompanied by personal bodyguards throughout the trip.
"Harry always travels with one or two of his own security team," the source claimed.
The same source also alleged that the Sussexes are aware the visit will attract significant public attention.
"They know it will make the biggest spectacle. They will want photos of them being 'royal,'" the source said.
Security has remained one of the biggest obstacles to the family's visits to Britain in recent years. Prince Harry previously lost his legal challenge over the level of publicly funded police protection available to him while in the UK.
In an earlier interview with the BBC following the court ruling, Harry explained why security concerns have influenced his decisions about returning with his family.
"I can't see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point," he said. "And I think that it's really quite sad that I won't be able to show, you know, my children my homeland."
Recent reports have suggested that Harry has since received assurances that appropriate security arrangements will be in place for the proposed visit. However, those reports have not been officially confirmed.
The trip could also provide an opportunity for King Charles to see Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in person for the first time since 2022. While reports claim the King has invited the Sussex family to stay at a royal residence, no official confirmation has been given that a family reunion will take place.
