According to an insider who spoke to Rob Shuter for Naught But Nice, the Duchess of Sussex had hoped to attend Taylor Swift's wedding festivities in July but was not included on the guest list.
"This was never just about attending a wedding," the source claimed. "For Meghan, it was about getting closer to Taylor. Right now, nobody has more cultural influence than Taylor Swift, and Meghan has wanted that connection for years."
The insider went on to suggest that Meghan viewed a friendship with the pop superstar as an opportunity to expand her network in Hollywood.
"Taylor was the one Meghan wanted most," the source said. "More than any other celebrity, she saw Taylor as someone who could elevate her status and open doors."
The source also claimed that Meghan has long been drawn to influential figures and high-profile social circles.
"Throughout her career, she's gravitated toward powerful people," the insider alleged. "Taylor became the ultimate prize."
Explaining why the relationship has reportedly never developed, the source added that Swift values authenticity in her personal connections.
"Taylor values loyalty and genuine relationships," the insider said. "If she senses someone is interested in access rather than authentic friendship, she keeps her distance."
Neither Meghan Markle nor Taylor Swift has publicly commented on the claims.
