Prince William is reportedly not ready to reconcile with Prince Harry, despite speculation surrounding the Duke of Sussex's upcoming visit to the UK next month.
According to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, the Prince of Wales continues to feel deeply hurt by the breakdown in his relationship with his younger brother and has no plans to meet him during the visit.
"William won't want to meet Harry, certainly not on this occasion," Fitzwilliams told the Daily Express. "He feels betrayed and doesn't trust him."
While he did not completely rule out the possibility of a future reunion, Fitzwilliams suggested that a private visit would have sent a stronger message.
"You can never say never," he said. "If this visit had been arranged without publicity, it would have been a sign that things might have changed, rather than taking place with the world's attention focused on it."
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond also believes the rift between the brothers remains far from over. Speaking to the Mirror, she said King Charles could face a difficult balancing act if he rebuilds his relationship with Harry while William remains estranged.
"It is going to be a delicate balancing act for the King," Bond said. "If he makes peace with his youngest son, his loyal and steadfast older son will have his nose royally put out of joint."
She added that there is currently "absolutely no sign" of the feud easing, but noted that reconciliation should not be ruled out.
"Things can change," Bond said. "Perhaps William might one day come around to Harry's view that there's no point in continuing to fight anymore."
Prince Harry stepped back from royal duties in 2020 alongside his wife, Meghan Markle. The couple later made a series of public allegations against the Royal Family, including claims that concerns were raised about their son Prince Archie's skin color before he was born. Harry and Meghan now live in California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
