Prince William and Catherine are said to have different views on how quickly their eldest son should prepare for royal responsibilities
Prince George’s future role within the monarchy is reportedly becoming a more immediate consideration as King Charles continues his cancer treatment.
According to a source speaking to Heat magazine, the young royal's path to the throne is now being viewed with greater seriousness, given that his father, Prince William, is expected to become King one day.
The insider claimed that differing views have emerged between William and Catherine regarding how George should be prepared for that future.
“George’s future as King has become very real, and there’s a definite difference of opinion,” the source said.
They alleged that William is focused on ensuring his eldest child is gradually prepared for the responsibilities that lie ahead, while Catherine is keen to preserve as much of George’s normal childhood as possible.
“At home, he’s still just George,” the source explained. “He loves being outside, spending time with his siblings and enjoying ordinary childhood activities. Catherine holds onto that very tightly because she knows those years pass quickly.”
The report also suggested that Catherine’s outlook has been shaped by her own health journey.
In early 2024, the Princess of Wales revealed that she had undergone planned abdominal surgery. Further tests later detected cancer, leading her to begin a course of preventative chemotherapy, a diagnosis she publicly disclosed in March that year.
She made her first major public appearance following the announcement at Trooping the Colour in June, appearing alongside other members of the Royal Family.
Several months later, Catherine shared a video message announcing she had completed her treatment and was in remission. Since then, she has gradually returned to public duties, appearing at a growing number of royal engagements.
