Prince Harry is reportedly reconsidering plans to bring his children to the UK after fears over their security resurfaced ahead of a potential family reunion with King Charles.
According to a source quoted by The Guardian, Harry and Meghan Markle were left disappointed after plans for a meeting with the King reportedly fell through at the last minute, leaving the couple feeling that the "rug had been pulled right from under their feet."
The source claimed the Duke of Sussex is now focused on one of his biggest concerns: ensuring the safety and privacy of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet during any visit to Britain.
"Their plans to see family, friends and visit various charitable causes close to the duke's heart have been pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour," the insider said.
The source added that Harry is exploring every possible option to make the trip safe for his family.
"He's looking at every option to try and get the family here safely and keep them safe when they're on the ground. If he can find a way to do that, he will."
According to the insider, Harry still hopes his children will have the opportunity to spend time with their grandfather, King Charles, but only if their security can be guaranteed.
"The hope is they can meet their grandfather, but there is no way that can happen if they are chased by paparazzi wherever they go from the moment they step off the plane," the source said. "He won't put his children through that."
The reported concerns come amid Harry's long-running legal battle over security arrangements in the UK following his decision to step back from royal duties.
Responding more broadly to questions about royal security, a UK government spokesperson said: "The UK government's protective security system is rigorous and proportionate. It is our longstanding policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals' security."
Neither Buckingham Palace nor representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have publicly commented on the latest claims.
