Prince Harry to Mark Princess Diana’s 65th Birthday With Meaningful Family Gesture

Prince Harry is reportedly planning a deeply personal tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana, during his upcoming visit to the UK with Meghan Markle and their children.

The Duke of Sussex is expected to bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to Diana’s final resting place at Althorp House in Northamptonshire for the first time, according to a report by The Sun. The visit is said to be planned just days after what would have been the Princess of Wales’s 65th birthday.

Harry and Meghan are expected to travel from California to Britain next month with their two children. The visit is tied to events marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Harry is also due to attend engagements linked to WellChild and Scotty’s Little Soldiers, two charities he continues to support.

Althorp House holds a special place in Diana’s story. It was her childhood home after her parents’ divorce and remained closely associated with her before her marriage to then-Prince Charles.

Diana died in August 1997 at the age of 36 following a car crash in Paris. Harry was just 12 years old at the time. She was later laid to rest on a secluded island in the middle of the ornamental Round Oval lake on the Althorp Estate.

The reported visit would mark a poignant moment for Harry, as it would allow his children to connect with the grandmother they never had the chance to meet.

The UK trip also comes after Harry met King Charles last September, marking their first face-to-face meeting in 19 months. The King has been undergoing cancer treatment, and questions remain over whether another meeting between father and son will take place during the Sussexes’ upcoming visit.

Security has remained a major concern for Harry in recent years. The duke has been involved in a long-running legal battle with the Home Office over protection arrangements for himself and his family in the UK, after his security status changed when he and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

Harry has previously cited security concerns as one of the reasons he felt unable to bring Meghan and their children back to Britain. However, recent reports suggest the Sussexes have now received assurances that helped ease those concerns.

Sources have also stressed that security decisions are handled by the Home Office, not the King, and that Charles has not made any private security commitments.

Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, have not seen their grandfather in person since Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

Harry and Meghan no longer have a permanent residence in the UK after being asked to vacate Frogmore Cottage in 2023, shortly after the release of Harry’s memoir, Spare. The Windsor home had originally been given to them by the late Queen.
