Insiders claim disagreements over workload, health advice and authority have led to friction behind palace walls
Reports suggest growing strain between King Charles III and Prince William, with insiders pointing to disagreements over royal responsibilities and how duties should be managed during a challenging period for the monarchy.
According to Closer, the King has been urging senior royals to increase their public commitments and “dig deep and do their duty.” In contrast, William is said to be taking a more independent approach to his role, which some sources interpret as a shift in attitude amid ongoing internal pressures.
One reported flashpoint came earlier in the year when William allegedly advised his father to prioritise his health and reconsider a planned trip to the United States. The advice was reportedly not followed, with Queen Camilla said to have supported the King continuing with his engagements.
Following that moment, insiders claim relations between father and son have become more strained, with suggestions that William feels commitments or understandings within the family have changed. One source described him as more resistant in recent months, though these claims remain unverified.
Further reports allege that William has been less consistent with some engagements, fuelling speculation about his approach to duties. Previous claims have also pointed to frustration within the wider royal household over workload distribution, including remarks attributed to Princess Anne regarding investiture duties.
There has been no official confirmation of any dispute, and Buckingham Palace does not comment on private family matters.
