Princess Charlotte steps into more visible role at Trooping the Colour

Body language expert says young royal is showing growing confidence and responsibility at official events

Princess Charlotte is beginning to stand out more at major royal appearances, with observers noting her increasing confidence and sense of responsibility.

The young royal joined her mother, Catherine, at the King’s official birthday celebrations this week, where her composed and attentive behaviour drew attention.

Body language expert Judi James said Charlotte is increasingly taking on a more prominent role within the family during public events.

“Charlotte is now effectively the one doing much of the ‘heavy lifting’ when it comes to stepping naturally into a more visible, engaged role at formal occasions like this,” she said.

She also highlighted differences between Charlotte and her younger brother, Prince Louis. According to James, Louis focused on cheerful waves to the crowd, while Prince George appeared more reserved in his gestures. Charlotte, however, made a point of acknowledging people on both sides of the gathering.

James added that Charlotte initially mirrored her mother’s waving, but then began to lead her own gestures, making sure different sections of the crowd felt acknowledged. She also noted moments where Charlotte appeared to engage with George, pointing things out and encouraging him to take interest in the event around them.
