King Charles and Queen Camilla have shared a warm message for the United States as the country celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The British royal family’s official Instagram account marked the occasion by posting a video clip reflecting on the King and Queen’s state visit to the US earlier this year.
“Today, America celebrates its 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It was great to celebrate this milestone with you all earlier in the year!” the palace wrote in the caption.
The post added that Their Majesties travelled to Washington, D.C., New York and Virginia in April for a state visit held in recognition of the historic anniversary.
King Charles and Queen Camilla’s four-day visit, which took place from April 27 to April 30, included several major events, including a White House state dinner, a joint address to Congress and a visit to Arlington National Cemetery.
The royal couple were received at the White House by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump after arriving in the United States.
