King Charles stepped out for a military-themed royal engagement on Monday as fresh questions emerged over Prince Harry’s accommodation during his visit to the United Kingdom.
The monarch visited the Royal Tank Regiment’s Families’ Day at the Tank Museum in Bovington, where he toured exhibits and met soldiers and their families.
During the visit, Charles also climbed aboard a Challenger 2 main battle tank, wearing a protective helmet and sunglasses for the ride.
He arrived at the event in a 1920 Pattern Rolls-Royce Armoured Car, the oldest vehicle in the Tank Museum’s working fleet. The same vehicle previously carried his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, during her visit to the museum in 1997.
The engagement took place just hours after a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex said Harry had formally accepted an offer to stay at a royal residence after finalizing private security arrangements for his trip.
However, Buckingham Palace sources reportedly disputed that account, claiming Harry did not respond before the requested deadline and only attempted to accept the invitation after arrangements could no longer be made.
Prince Harry has arrived in London without Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, despite earlier reports suggesting the family had hoped to travel together.
