King Charles has sent a warm message to US President Donald Trump and the American people as the United States marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The message was shared by the Palace on the royal family’s official social media accounts.
In his statement, the King reflected on the long-standing relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, highlighting the shared history and values between the two nations.
“Through centuries of shared challenge and achievement, our nations have built a relationship founded on friendship, trust and a belief in liberty, the rule of law and the dignity of all people,” King Charles said.
He added, “As we look ahead to the next 250 years, I have no doubt we will continue to defend our shared values.”
“The connection between our peoples is one that I trust will only grow stronger with time,” the monarch continued.
The King’s message comes as Prince Harry prepares to return to the UK next week for events linked to the Invictus Games in Birmingham.
Charles has reportedly offered Harry and his family a royal residence to stay in during the visit, a move seen as an olive branch amid ongoing tensions.
The Duke of Sussex had originally been expected to travel with Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, at the start of July to attend events marking the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games.
However, recent reports suggest Meghan and the children will not join Harry on the trip to London.
The decision comes after claims that Harry’s request for taxpayer-funded police protection in the UK had recently been denied.
Harry is now expected to travel alone, while questions remain over whether he will meet King Charles during the visit.
