King Charles reportedly kept his recent reunion with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children focused entirely on family.
The King is said to have welcomed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to Highgrove for a private meeting last week.
Royal commentator Emily Wright suggested that the gathering was not connected to palace negotiations or a possible return for Harry and Meghan. Instead, she described it as a personal decision by a grandfather who wanted to spend time with his youngest grandchildren.
Writing for the Daily Express, Wright noted that Charles had not seen Archie and Lilibet in person for several years. Lilibet was reportedly only one year old when they last met.
She argued that the King opened his home out of affection for his family while maintaining a clear distinction between his private relationships and official royal matters.
The lack of photographs, public statements or official appearances was also seen as significant.
According to Wright, Buckingham Palace would likely have released images or arranged a public moment if the meeting had been intended to signal a formal reconciliation with the Sussexes.
Instead, the reunion remained behind closed doors, suggesting that Charles wanted to reconnect with his grandchildren without changing the monarchy’s position regarding Harry and Meghan.
