Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have come under fresh criticism as reports of their renewed interest in spending time in the UK continue to attract attention.
During a discussion on TalkTV’s YouTube channel, former royal press secretary Dickie Arbiter and presenter Jeremy Kyle questioned the couple’s relationship with Britain and the Royal Family.
Kyle pointed to the Sussexes’ past criticism of the royal institution, arguing that their apparent desire to rebuild connections now appears inconsistent.
He questioned why the couple would want to spend more time in a country and reconnect with an institution they had previously criticised so strongly. He also raised the issue of their children using the titles of prince and princess.
Kyle described the situation as “complete hypocrisy,” comparing Harry and Meghan’s changing position to the behaviour often associated with politicians. He added that public opinion toward the couple in Britain may be difficult to change.
Arbiter agreed, suggesting that Harry may believe his recent visits to the UK have helped repair his relationship with the public and the Royal Family.
“It seems as though they want to come back and they want the best of both worlds,” Arbiter said.
He also referred to the late Queen Elizabeth II’s decision that Harry and Meghan could not continue as working royals while pursuing an independent life abroad.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and later made a series of public allegations about their experiences within the Royal Family. Their comments have continued to shape public discussion about any possible reconciliation or expanded role in the UK.
