Meghan Markle reportedly failed to secure the public moment she had hoped for following her private meeting with King Charles in Britain.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla met Prince Harry, Meghan and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, at the monarch’s Highgrove estate in western England on Friday.
The gathering marked the King’s first meeting with Archie and Lilibet since 2022.
Although the Palace confirmed that the family reunion took place, no photographs were released, and none are expected to be made public.
Following the meeting, royal commentator Rob Shuter claimed that Harry and Meghan achieved the reunion they had been seeking but left without something that could have significantly strengthened their public image: a photograph with the King.
According to insiders quoted by Naughty But Nice, the private meeting was meaningful, but a public image of the Sussex family alongside Charles would have carried even greater value.
“The meeting was valuable, but the photograph was the prize,” a source claimed.
“Meghan understands the power of imagery better than almost anyone. A single picture with the King would have reminded the world that she and Harry are still royalty. That’s branding gold.”
Shuter suggested that Harry and Meghan’s projects since stepping back from royal duties have struggled to attract the same prestige and worldwide attention associated with a visible connection to the monarchy.
The insider further alleged that Palace officials understood the potential value of such a photograph to the Sussexes and deliberately chose not to provide them with that public moment.
However, there has been no official confirmation that Meghan requested a photograph or that securing one was her main objective. The Palace has described the visit as a private family gathering.
