Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have reportedly been urged not to take King Charles' apparent olive branch for granted.
According to recent reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to visit the UK later this month with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The couple has reportedly been offered a royal residence for their stay in London.
A source quoted by Closer claimed that King Charles has made considerable efforts to facilitate the visit but expects clear boundaries to be respected.
"Charles has gone above and beyond to make this visit happen, but nobody should mistake that for blind trust," the source said. "The reality is that he's taking a huge chance and he knows it. He's made it very clear to Harry that there cannot be any drama or any hint that this trip is being used for personal gain."
The report suggests the King's willingness to accommodate the Sussexes should not be interpreted as a sign that past tensions have been forgotten.
The claims come as Daily Mail columnist Richard Eden reported that Meghan has received a second six-month extension from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in connection with one of her trademark applications.
According to the legal filing, "Applicant's second request for Extension of Time to File a Statement of Use has been granted. Applicant must continue to file extension requests every six months... until a Statement of Use is filed, or the USPTO will abandon the application."
Neither Buckingham Palace nor the Sussexes have publicly commented on the reported arrangements for the family's UK visit.
