Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent trip to the United Kingdom reportedly included a European getaway as part of their itinerary, but insiders now claim the vacation did not go as planned.
According to a source who spoke to In Touch Weekly, the couple had hoped the trip would give them some time to relax and reconnect. Instead, it allegedly became dominated by work, legal concerns, and ongoing public pressure.
“This was supposed to be a chance to enjoy a bit of downtime together, but instead it turned into one long strategy session,” the insider claimed.
The trip was first reported by People, but more recent claims suggest the couple spent much of their time dealing with professional and personal stress. The source alleged that Harry and Meghan were “constantly on the phone with lawyers and publicists” as they tried to manage concerns tied to the ongoing security fallout.
Once that issue began to settle, Meghan was reportedly pulled into work-related matters involving her brand, leaving the couple focused on separate professional pressures rather than enjoying the break they had planned.
“They had very high hopes for this trip, but by all accounts, it ended up being very stressful,” the insider said.
The source also claimed the tension brought old arguments back to the surface, especially around Harry’s family situation and Meghan’s growing workload.
According to the insider, Harry does not want to spend his life “sitting in the background” while Meghan works nonstop. At the same time, Meghan reportedly does not want to watch Harry continue to struggle with guilt over what is happening within his family.
Despite the difficult moments, the source said the couple remains committed to working through their issues together.
“They’re both very committed to finding their way through this, so in that sense having time to talk things out was positive,” the insider added.
Still, the source admitted the trip was far from the romantic escape Harry and Meghan had hoped for.
