According to Closer, Harry believes the King’s willingness to forgive and move forward could encourage other members of the royal family to support a reconciliation between the brothers.
“The fact that Charles is willing to forgive and move forward has shifted things for a lot of people,” a source told the publication. “Harry is feeling quite hopeful that pressure from his father and the wider family will eventually help him crack William’s tough shell.”
Harry has also mentioned William publicly in recent remarks, a move some observers have interpreted as an olive branch. However, royal insiders have warned that his public approach may be having the opposite effect.
“The bad news for Harry is that, so far, nothing has had any effect on William,” the source claimed. “If anything, the pressure is making him dig his heels in even more.”
The insider added that Harry believes he is doing the right thing by publicly showing that he no longer holds a grudge. William, however, reportedly views the comments differently.
“To William, it just smacks of more posturing,” the source said. “Clearly, they are still seeing things through completely different lenses.”
Separate reports have also claimed that Harry is eager to rebuild ties with his brother because of concerns surrounding his royal status and Meghan Markle’s business interests. However, these claims have not been publicly confirmed by either Harry or William.
