The Duke of Sussex spoke with young patients during a visit to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Prince Harry visited Birmingham Children’s Hospital on Thursday after marking the 20th anniversary of the first WellChild Nurse programme.
During the visit, the Duke of Sussex met children, families and hospital staff, with photographs from the engagement later circulating online.
However, the appearance came as Harry faced renewed attention over claims made by British journalist Charlotte Griffiths, the Mail on Sunday’s editor at large.
In a recent article, Griffiths reflected on what she described as her “short and utterly surreal friendship” with the Duke and recalled an alleged incident from December 2011, when she was a 27-year-old trainee reporter.
According to Griffiths, Harry took a small white tablet from his pocket during a dinner party and placed it on her tongue.
“Now I know I can trust you,” she claimed he told her.
Griffiths said the alleged incident took place during a shooting weekend at a private estate in Hampshire, where around 16 people were present. She described the guests as members of Harry’s trusted social circle.
The journalist also portrayed the Duke as lively and confident during their encounters.
“In person, he was quite the live wire: boisterous, charming and overflowing with a sometimes excessive degree of self-confidence,” she wrote.
She added that Harry was known for playing pranks when surrounded by close friends, describing him as “a compulsive practical joker.”
The claims have prompted criticism from some royal commentators and social media users, though Prince Harry has not publicly responded to the account.
