Queen Camilla reportedly played a key role in Prince Harry’s long-awaited reunion with King Charles.
According to People, Camilla attended the private family gathering at Highgrove House on July 10. Harry was joined by Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for the meeting with the King.
Royal author Catherine Mayer said Camilla’s presence highlighted her importance in Charles’ life and suggested that rebuilding a relationship with the monarch would also require Harry to accept his stepmother’s place beside him.
“She is a non-negotiable part of Charles’ life,” Mayer said, adding: “There is no reconciliation with him without her.”
Few details about the gathering have been made public. A source said keeping the discussions private would give the family the space needed to rebuild their relationships without outside pressure.
Harry has previously spoken openly about his complicated relationship with Camilla. In his 2023 memoir, Spare, he accused her of leaking stories about him to improve her public image. He later said they remained “perfectly pleasant” with each other and rejected the idea that he viewed her as an “evil stepmother.”
The Highgrove gathering reportedly marked the first time in four years that Charles had seen Meghan and his grandchildren, who live with Harry in California.
