Prince William and Prince Harry’s former private secretary has shared rare insight into his time working closely with the royal brothers.
Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who spent nearly a decade guiding William and Harry through the early stages of their royal careers, reflected on his experience in a new interview with People Magazine. The former aide, who later also worked with Kate Middleton, spoke while promoting his debut novel, Beyond the Edge of the Light.
Looking back on the role, Jamie joked that it may have been the only private secretary job that required him to ride a cross-country motorcycle just to keep up with the princes.
He said it was “fascinating” to watch William and Harry grow into their responsibilities, noting that both brothers had an almost natural understanding of duty and service. He also recalled guiding them as they entered the armed forces, saying the experience reminded him of parts of his own military youth.
When asked about William and Harry’s relationship today, Jamie simply said, “It is what it is,” while adding that he remains “a perennial optimist.”
Despite the ongoing divide within the family, he praised both princes for their individual work. Jamie described Prince William as a “great king in waiting” and called Prince Harry’s Invictus Games Foundation “a wonderful thing.”
He also had warm words for Kate Middleton, describing the Princess of Wales as “brilliant.”
