Prince William reportedly still has sympathy for Prince Harry, despite the ongoing tension between the brothers.
The Prince of Wales, who has not been on good terms with his younger brother for several years, is said to understand Harry’s concerns after the Duke of Sussex was denied taxpayer-funded security for himself and his family during visits to the UK.
Royal expert Jennie Bond told The Mirror that William would almost certainly be aware of the debate surrounding Harry’s security arrangements.
“William must surely have been paying attention to the row over Harry’s security. He could hardly avoid it,” Bond said. She added that this may be one issue where William could feel some sympathy for his brother, as he knows how important it is to protect one’s family.
However, Bond noted that the decision is not something William would become involved in.
She also said it may still be too soon to expect a meeting between the brothers. But if Harry’s visit goes ahead and his children are able to meet King Charles, it could possibly mark the beginning of a thaw between William and Harry.
Still, Bond warned that trust remains a major issue for William, who is known to be deeply private and protective of Princess Kate. She suggested that William remains hurt by the claims and criticism directed at Kate by the Sussexes, and may struggle to forgive Harry for it.
