Prince William’s Position on Reconciliation With Prince Harry Revealed

Prince William reportedly feels no obligation to rebuild his relationship with Prince Harry, despite King Charles’ recent meeting with the Duke of Sussex and his children.

The reunion between Charles and Harry’s family has prompted fresh speculation about whether it could lead to wider reconciliation within the Royal Family. However, royal biographer Robert Jobson believes William is unlikely to follow his father’s example.

Speaking to Newsweek, Jobson said there is little chance of Harry being allowed to return to a “half-in, half-out” royal role.

The arrangement, which would have allowed Harry and Meghan Markle to carry out selected royal duties while pursuing commercial projects abroad, was rejected by Queen Elizabeth II when the couple stepped back as senior working royals in 2020.

According to Jobson, King Charles has continued to support that decision, and William would not reconsider it after becoming monarch.

Harry previously discussed the proposal in his memoir, Spare, claiming that advisers had suggested he and Meghan could live outside Britain for part of the year while returning for royal events, charity work and official ceremonies.

Since leaving royal duties, the Sussexes have signed major media agreements, including partnerships with Netflix and Spotify, while Meghan has continued developing her Archetypes podcast.

Jobson argued that Harry’s commercial work, legal disputes over his security and criticism of British institutions have made a return to royal life increasingly difficult.

He also stressed that King Charles’ relationship with Harry is separate from William’s relationship with his brother.

In Jobson’s view, Charles may choose to meet Harry as both a father and a grandfather, but William is not required to do the same.

The royal author suggested that the Prince of Wales remains deeply hurt and will not be pressured into reconciliation, meaning the distance between the brothers is likely to continue.
