A royal commentator has offered his view on why Buckingham Palace may have been uncomfortable accommodating Prince Harry during his latest visit to the UK.
The Duke of Sussex returned to Britain without Meghan Markle or their two children and, during the trip, suffered a legal setback after London's High Court dismissed his privacy lawsuit against Associated Newspapers.
Following the ruling, royal journalist Chris Ship shared his analysis on X, pointing to Prince Harry's criticism of Mr Justice Matthew Nicklin in the aftermath of the case.
Ship noted that before his appointment to the High Court, Nicklin practised as a barrister specialising in media law and had represented Mirror Group Newspapers during his legal career.
Referring to Harry's strongly worded statement after the judgment, Ship suggested this may have been one reason Buckingham Palace was reportedly uneasy about the Duke staying there, writing that the King could have found the situation awkward given that judges administer justice in the monarch's name.
After the ruling, Prince Harry described the decision as "a complete and obvious whitewash," while arguing that the court had failed to properly consider what he believed was compelling evidence presented during the trial.
In the same statement, the Duke thanked his legal team and the witnesses who took part in the proceedings, saying he remained grateful for their efforts in pursuing the case despite the outcome.
Buckingham Palace has not commented on the claims regarding the accommodation arrangements or the reasons behind them.
