Queen Camilla is reportedly making a concerted effort to strengthen her relationship with Prince William as she looks toward the monarchy’s future.
An insider told Naughty But Nice that Camilla is carefully nurturing her bond with the Prince of Wales because she understands the influence he will have when he eventually becomes king.
“One day William will be King. She wants his respect now because he’ll ultimately shape her place in the institution after Charles,” the palace source claimed.
According to the insider, Camilla and William have also grown closer because they share similar concerns about Prince Harry.
“Nothing has strengthened their bond more than their caution about Harry,” the source alleged.
Harry recently visited the UK with Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The family reportedly met King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House on July 10.
Although Camilla is said to have supported Harry’s reunion with his father, sources claim she remains wary of the Duke of Sussex and believes trust cannot be restored after a single meeting.
“Neither believes one meeting wipes the slate clean,” the insider said. “Trust has to be rebuilt, and they don’t think Harry is there yet.”
The source added that Camilla wants peace within the Royal Family because she loves Charles and has seen how deeply the public feud has affected him.
“She’s watched this family fracture in public, and if there’s a chance to heal it, she’ll stand behind her husband,” the source said.
However, Camilla reportedly remains mindful of Harry’s past remarks and revelations about the Royal Family.
“Forgiveness doesn’t erase memory, and she hasn’t forgotten what Harry has said and done,” another source claimed.
