Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has provided a witness statement in a court case linked to an alleged encounter with a man near his Sandringham residence.
According to GB News, the former Duke of York’s statement was read aloud at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday by Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram.
In the statement, King Charles III’s younger brother said he had been walking his dogs on the estate when he noticed a vehicle he initially believed belonged to press photographers.
Mountbatten-Windsor said he and his security team drove past the vehicle before noticing a man wearing a balaclava nearby.
He described the man as appearing “out of place” and said a loose dog then ran towards him.
According to the statement, Mountbatten-Windsor said the man appeared to recognise him before allegedly running after his vehicle.
The incident is said to have taken place on May 6 in Wolferton, close to Mountbatten-Windsor’s Marsh Farm property.
Alex Jenkinson, 39, has been charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards the former royal, allegedly causing him to fear unlawful violence.
Jenkinson denies the charge.
GB News reported that Mountbatten-Windsor’s witness statement is expected to form a key part of the evidence in the case.
