Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor may not meet Princess Eugenie’s newborn daughter in person, according to royal author Andrew Lownie.
The claim came days after Eugenie announced the birth of her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank. Reports suggest her mother, Sarah Ferguson, travelled to Portugal to support the family following the baby’s arrival.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, said Andrew may have to see his new grandchild remotely.
“It is unlikely Andrew will see his new grandchild except through FaceTime,” he claimed.
Lownie suggested that Eugenie and her older sister, Princess Beatrice, are caught between their loyalty to their parents and pressure from their husbands.
“The daughters are walking a tightrope, torn between residual loyalty to their parents and pressure from their husbands,” he said.
Discussing Sarah’s relationship with her daughters, the author said the close “tripod” bond the three once proudly described has not completely fallen apart, despite years of controversy surrounding the family.
According to Lownie, however, Beatrice and Eugenie’s relationship with their father has become increasingly strained following a series of damaging revelations.
Eugenie announced the arrival of her third child on Tuesday. She and Jack are already parents to two sons, August, born in February 2021, and Ernest, born in June 2023.
