Oprah Winfrey reportedly has no interest in revisiting the controversy surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, years after her explosive interview with the couple.
The television host sat down with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for a widely watched tell-all special in 2021. The interview generated global headlines but also attracted considerable criticism.
Recent rumours suggested Harry and Meghan were hoping to persuade Oprah to conduct another interview as they promote new projects. Sources, however, claim she is not interested.
“Oprah took plenty of criticism after the first special,” an insider told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice gossip blog.
The source claimed the Sussexes had considered presenting the proposed interview as a new chapter focused on healing and reconciliation.
“They’re talking about it again because they both have projects to promote, and they know interviews generate headlines,” the insider alleged. “They hoped Oprah might be interested in a fresh chapter about healing. She isn’t.”
A second source said Oprah believes she has nothing to gain from becoming involved in the couple’s royal disputes again.
“As far as she’s concerned, that story has been told,” the source claimed, adding that the television personality does not want to become part of Harry and Meghan’s publicity strategy.
Neither Oprah nor representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have publicly commented on the report.
