A public apology from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may not be enough to repair their strained relationship with Prince William, according to a former royal staff member.
Recent reports have suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could be considering a public apology in an effort to ease tensions with the royal family. However, former royal butler Grant Harrold believes the damage between the brothers may be too deep.
“Where do you even begin? Which parts do they apologize for?” Harrold said on The Royals Uncensored podcast, adding that he found it difficult to imagine such an apology actually taking place.
Although he suggested William might welcome the gesture, Harrold remained doubtful that it would lead to reconciliation.
“Even with a public apology, I still don’t see any way back now between the two of them,” he said. “From what I’m hearing from the inside, William is still adamant he doesn’t want anything to do with his brother.”
Harrold claimed King Charles III may be more open to rebuilding ties, particularly because he wants a relationship with Harry and Meghan’s children.
His remarks follow a recent report from a senior royal correspondent at news.com.au, who claimed the Prince of Wales currently has “no interest at all” in speaking with his younger brother.
